Karyn Lynn Morton is a psychotherapist whose path to healing was forged through decades of service, scholarship, and lived experience. After more than 18 years as an Adjudicator with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, a career demanding rigorous critical analysis, cultural competency, and an unwavering commitment to fairness, Karyn made a deliberate transition toward the work she was always called to do: helping people heal. Holding a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts in Psychology alongside a Juris Doctor, Karyn brings a rare interdisciplinary lens to mental health practice. Her academic foundation, combined with nearly two decades of federal service, informs a therapeutic approach that is both structurally and civically informed and deeply human.
Karyn practices Cultural Integrative Therapy, a modality that uses CBT, DBT, somatic, and mindfulness that centers ancestral roots, community, social and familial environment, and historical context as essential tools for reframing maladaptive thought patterns and regulating emotions. She is most experienced treating ADHD, Anxiety, Depression, Identity Issues, Relationship Issues, Trauma, Sleep Disturbance, and Women’s Issues (perimenopause and menopause/postpartum depression or anxiety/ PMDD cognitive and emotional issues), as well as Bipolar disorder. Through talk and somatic therapy, and science -based psychoeducation, Karyn guides clients toward wholeness on their own terms. “Mental health is a personal right, a civil right, and a vital part of overall health. Just as we care for the body, we must care for the mind,” is her personal model on total wellness.
Beyond the “sofa”, Karyn is a social media cultural and political/government analyst, blog writer, and devoted sneaker collector — a woman who moves between ideas and culture with equal ease. As a mother, daughter, partner, and friend, she brings her full self to every role she inhabits, modeling the integration she invites her clients to pursue.
